I should also do some more reading on this whole hosting the ISO on another partition thing. Ideally I'd throw the ISO onto an SD card and boot from that but haven't worked out how yet.
Maybe the kids will grace me with some time later on.

My first hackintosh worked first time on the desktop machine, albeit with no wifi or sound.
Tried doing the Eee yesterday with iDeneb. Got the disk burned but Eee wouldn't boot from it. Sorting the boot is my next job but for now the frosty park beckons.

I pondered on this briefly yesterday. I reckon that Zavvi's administrators are trying to force voucher holders into the position of being registered creditors (especially if they are getting people to call a support line) and only undertaking cash sales within stores.
It's a shitty trick to boost cash but I guess quite legal.

Okey dokey. Songbird will probably be the way to go once the community gets stuck in to plugins good and proper. I use it instead of iTunes and WMP for music and updating iPod for now.
But for an all round windows based media experience MediaPortal is the way to go. It was born out of an XBMC branch about 5 years ago and finally got it's 1.0 release a couple of days before Crimbo.
Not only is it stable it will manage pretty well any media, has plugins for streaming stuff, skins, and best of all IMHO support for both DVB-S & DVB-T so works brilliantly as a PVR - like Tivo on steriods.
Oh and did I mention free and open source. So it get's maintained and updated.
Certainly runs well on Vista and XP (Vista is better for HD content mind). And as for hardware. My main HTPC is about 4 years old running a single core AMD 3400+ processor, 1Gb Ram (crap loads of disk space mind) and an nVidia 8600gt card - so not exactly high spec. It'll record 3 or 4 channels and playback at the same time quite happily.
MediaPortal IS THE best and most viable solution for the PC and I haven't even touched on the coolness of it acting as a media server.

Wonder what the legalities of refusing to accept a gift voucher are. As Zavvi had accepted payment for the voucher and therefore in effect accepted the contract to supply does the refusal get covered by contract law or consumer law? i.e. does the consumer become a creditor as opposed to a normal shopper in the eyes of the receivers.
Just a thought and one I should check out as rather inevitable closure of more stores in the new year will see many face the same problem.
But as a thought I would probably have done the same in taking the goods, handing over the voucher and walking out. Can't imagine Police would want to get involved in that one.

Had a similar experience a while back where several of the telephone numbers got corrupted by the sync to the e71. Once I had it all back I made local backup just in case BUT it's never happened since.

Hell yeh. Over 3 months for this move. We thought we wanted so many things out of the shipping when we sent it, but now after so long we realise that aside from a few warm clothes and general household stuff (sofas, plates and such) we don't really miss much. That said the media centre came out pretty damn quick and once I can get it hooked up to the TV here and satellite feed we'll be pleased to see it back.
