Really? I have a Proporta disk pack here which as more than
enough grunt to charge my N800 and a pile of other stuff and the
wife's iPod Nano (a nearly new one at that) doesn't give a stuff
about the power on offer.
Plug the thing into a generic wall charger offering up USB power
and nothing there either.
Plug the damn thing into a powered USB port on my PC and hey
presto it's a happy bunny
@barneyc#2 depends. iPods demand the full
500mA that USB is supposed to be able to deliver. A lot of those
generic AC to USB adapters don't follow the spec and offer less mA.
I have one that will only put out 300mA and it won't charge my
iPod. Another I have offers 500mA and it works fine
@FyreFiend: I knew
there would be a geek out there with the answers. I wonder what my
fat old Proporta puts out. It's rated at 3400mAH capacity with 5.5V
out.
Kinda surprised it won't drive the iPod as in my experience the
Nokia n-series are far more demanding of power.
The standard proporta should work, mine came with a ipod tip.
Fyrefeind that explains why the auto adapter i recently doesn't
work with the nokia 6263 and it does with the n95.

You can even buy apple branded usb home and auto outlet adapters to charge anywhere. Proporta even comes with an ipod tip.

@GadgetVirtuoso: are you saying there is no difference between the proporta (std) and the apple branded version?
